Located in Hooksett, New Hampshire (just north of Manchester, a few miles south of Concord), Troop 292 is the original scouting unit in the town. Our current membership boasts 27 scouts and 18 registered adults. The scouts use the patrol method and currently have 4 Scout Patrols. Troop 292 is sponsored by the Hooksett Kiwanis Club and meets on Thursday evenings at The David R. Cawley School Cefeteria.

TROOP 292 IS BORN ,organized by a Group of
Citizens, their first meeting place is the Community Grange
Hall. The first Scoutmaster was Leo Sasseville and the first
Committee Chairman was Marshall Rice. The original charter was for 13
Boy Scouts, 2 Explorers and 8 Committee Members. They met on
Wednesdays at 7 p.m..

Troop 292 changes chartering organization to The Hooksett Kiwanis Club, relocates their weekly meetings to the David R. Cawley School cafeteria, and quickly grows back to 35 scouts.

Corona-geddon descends on the world, schools and businesses close. Troop 292 moves online, using Zoom to hold weekly troop meetings, and monthly PLCs, committee meetings and backyard campouts. By summer, the troop begins to cautiously venture out for day activities with appropriate safeguards. After a few months of dual in-person/remote meetings and a couple weekend trips in the fall, the PLC decides to go back to full remote for the winter as COVID numbers spike.

Council starts the year with a "pause" for in-person meetings due to COVID spikes over the holidays. The troop resumes camping trips in March and live meetings at the Legion in May. As vaccinations increase and the COVID risk starts to fade, the troop moves toward fully in-person operations. As school resumes in the fall, the school board reopens schools to outside organizations, and the troop returns to Cawley School for troop meetings.
